Wedding Toast Examples

Use examples for structure, not for someone else’s personality. The goal is to recognize the shape of a good toast and fill it with details only you could know.

Funny opening structure

Introduce the relationship → create a little tension → reveal affection. Example structure: explain why you have enough history to embarrass the person, then immediately show the room that the joke comes from love.

Story-led structure

Set the scene → tell one vivid moment → explain what it reveals → connect it to the couple. This is often the safest structure because the emotion grows naturally out of something real.

Heartfelt parent structure

Memory → pride → welcome → wish. You do not need ten childhood stories. One carefully chosen memory can carry the whole speech.

Final toast structure

End with one sentence about what you hope the couple keeps doing for each other, invite the room to raise a glass, say their names, and finish cleanly. Do not introduce a brand-new story in the final thirty seconds.
